Important Update: Safety of Our Students

As mentioned in previous communications, Red Oak Elementary was placed in a Secure status today. The Secure will be lifted at dismissal. Both Nash County Public Schools and the Nash County Sheriff’s Office take threats like this seriously.

According to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, they are currently working with the SBI on what appears to be a nonviable threat, but are doing so out of an abundance of caution. When the individual responsible is identified, charges will be filed. We thank law enforcement for their continued efforts to keep our school community safe.

The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.

As a reminder, all visitors and students must enter through the front entrance of the building and complete Evolv screening upon arrival. Visitors must also report directly to the main office. These steps are essential in maintaining a safe and secure school environment.

What is the Secure Action? *

* The Secure Action is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building. Secure uses the security of the physical facility to act as protection. During Secure, all students and staff are brought into the secure building and all exterior doors are locked. Classes are able to continue uninterrupted inside the building.
